The use of sustainable and environmentally friendly building materials is at the core of our system. As well as building low energy homes, we also need to consider the materials we use when building our new homes. Sustainable building materials should have a low embodied energy and be sourced responsibly. Most materials used in our homes are either timber or materials derived from timber. Timber is one of the most sustainable building materials available.

The use of natural materials is also beneficial to the health of a building and its occupants. Our breathing wall construction provides the perfect balance of vapour resistivity, permeability and hygroscopicity to promote the migration of moisture out of the structure. The use of cellulose and wood fibre as thermal insulation to the service cavity and acoustic insulation to the internal walls and floors help maintain healthy levels of humidity within the house.
